The method of Rhythmics promotes personal development of the motor, cognitive and social affective capacities. It starts from movement and the idea that this is a basic and instinctive human necessity. The work combines movement with music, the voice, language and experimentation with different objects/materials. In their encounter, these means interact with and complement each other.
We create pedagogical situations in which learning processes in the following areas take place:
At the beginning of the last century, the Swiss musician and teacher Émile Jaques-Dalcroze recognised rhythm as a basic vital element and started developing a method for studying music that promotes the experience of music through the body. This method underwent significant modifications in its aims over the course of the century, as it was also used for individual development in an integral way.
The method of Rhythmics has a long history and can be studied at more than 30 universities throughout the world. One of them is the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, Austria which looks back on a history of over 50 years. RITMICA VIENA carries the methodological approach taught there forward in Buenos Aires and South America.
There is a vast bibliography on this discipline, providing a solid theoretical base that is increasing permanently thanks to investigations, including other academic fields like medicine and neuroscience.
